Tar Heel Service Day (Sat, Oct 10th)

Woordle for Service DaySaturday, October 10, 2015 at 12:00pm. In 2014 nearly 1,200 Carolina alumni and friends served a grand total of 5,096 hours in honor of University Day on Oct. 12, 2014. Tar Heels rolled up their sleeves in 26 states and four countries. From Cairo to Chicago, Tar Heels cleaned beaches, visited the elderly, cheered on marathoners and baked cookies for firefighters.

Charlotte Carolina Club’s event will be held at Bright Blessings at 12:00 noon on Oct. 10.  They have all the materials and supplies that we will need for our event, but they do request $5 per volunteer (not a requirement for our event, though).  Family members are welcome, but we are limited to a group of 22 people.

Bright Blessings serves homeless and impoverished children from birth through high school.  They also serve mothers and battered women.  They serve 18 different homeless shelters.

Their programs include:

  1. Birthday celebrations at homeless shelters
  2. Birthday packages for transient homeless students
  3. Baby care packages
  4. Books and learning supplies for children at homeless shelters and low income students
  5. Hygiene and snack care packages for homeless and impoverished children

We may be putting together birthday gift boxes, preparing snack or hygiene baskets, educational or other care packages, sorting, wrapping, etc.  They will give us a tour and have a short video for our group.

RSVP TODAY to Tom Falish at TFalish@doziermillerlaw.com.

**If you can’t make our Tar Heel Service Day event, consider making an online donation to Bright Blessings.**
